Privacy Policy

Cookin ("Cookin", "we", "us") is an on-demand home cook booking platform operating in India. This policy covers the Cookin customer app, the Cookin Partner app for cooks, this website, and related services. It explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using our apps or this website you agree to this policy.

From all users:

• Account details: your name and mobile phone number, verified by one-time password.
• Location: your device's precise location while you use the app. Customers share it to find nearby cooks and track a booking; partners share it while online or on an active job so customers can see their arrival. We do not collect location in the background when the app is closed.
• Saved addresses that you add for bookings.
• Device and usage data: device identifiers, push notification tokens, and crash and performance diagnostics.

From cooking partners only:

• Identity verification documents (such as Aadhaar and PAN) and a profile photo, collected through the camera or photo library, used solely to verify your identity before you can accept jobs.
• Bank account details, used solely to pay out your earnings.

Payments: card, UPI, and other payment details are collected and processed by our payment providers, Razorpay and PayU. We never see or store your full payment credentials. We receive only a payment confirmation and reference.

• To create and secure your account.
• To match customers with the nearest available cook and fulfil bookings.
• To show live location and arrival estimates during an active booking.
• To process payments and partner payouts, and to handle refunds.
• To verify partner identity and maintain platform safety.
• To send booking status notifications.
• To fix crashes, improve performance, and prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

We share data only with the service providers that run the platform, and only what each one needs:

• Google Firebase: phone number verification and push notifications.
• Supabase: our database and secure document storage.
• Railway: hosting for our backend servers.
• Razorpay and PayU: payment processing.
• Mapbox: maps and location display.
• Sentry: crash and error reporting.

We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

We keep your data while your account is active. Booking and payment records are retained as required for accounting and legal obligations. Partner verification documents are retained while the partner account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data except where the law requires us to keep it.

Data is encrypted in transit. Verification documents are stored in a private bucket accessible only through short-lived signed links. Access to production systems is restricted and authenticated.

In line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can withdraw consent by deleting your account. You can delete your account directly in either app, or request deletion by email. See Delete Your Account for both paths. For other requests, contact us at the address below. We respond within a reasonable time, and you may escalate unresolved grievances to our grievance officer at the same address.

Cookin is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We will post any changes to this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be notified in the app.
